I like Brie Larson very much. In every single thing I’ve seen her in—Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The United States of Tara, 21 Jump Street—she’s exuded a naturalistic charm and wit that immediately got my attention. She also co-starred on one of only two genuinely good episodes on Community‘s dismal fourth season (the Sophie B. Hawkins one). And now she’s poised to wrack up accolades for her lead role as a supervising staff member at a foster care facility in Short Term 12, which won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at SXSW this year. It also stars the adorable John Gallagher Jr., who never fails to reduce me to smitten-kitten mode on The Newsroom. I’ve heard great things and am quite excited for this one.
