Laura Marling has always been someone I’ve appreciated but not necessarily connected with. That has changed forever with the above clip for “Master Hunter,” the first video from Marling’s upcoming fourth album, Once I Was An Eagle. The song is so confident in its promise of danger and destruction, and Marling’s delivery so calmly menacing; combine that with the stark and unsettling visuals of the video, in which Marling coolly performs her song while seated across from two dancers vigorously working their way through a ballet of sexual violence/violent sexuality, and you have possibly my favorite music video the year so far.
